Revamped Bathroom

So...we have lived in our house for almost three years and I am just now getting around to painting ;-)

Here is what I did with our downstairs bathroom!

I started with a trip to Lowes for paint. I have wanted to do a seafoam color for a long time...I decided to just go for it. I used Valspars Meadow mist satin interior with primer. Let me just tell you that it is wonderful paint. I only had to do one coat and used very little paint...I love it.

I found an awesome mirror and two sconces at goodwill for under $15. I spray painted them with matte black and they look brand new!

Nick had always wanted to do a wall of crosses like he saw in a restaurant down in Cali, so I have been adding those as I find them.

My latest piece to add was the Audrey Hepurn canvas from Ikea. I have always wanted it and my wonderful mother in law surprised me with it :-)

I have been inspired to finish and revamp the rest of the house now.
I will post as I get more of it done :-)

Crafty Tuesday!

So I was going to write about Asher's birthday party.....But I have been super crafty today and would rather show you what I have done.

I have been searching Craigslist in the free section and found this super ugly nightstand. It has been sitting in my garage for a week and I wasn't sure what to do with it. Today, Asher and I sanded it down.

I am pretty sure I have the cutest little helper...ever.  Next I found a bottle of  light blue spray paint that I had picked up a while back. I took all the ugly gold hinges and knobs off. And gave the whole thing 2 coats of paint. I spray painted the hinges and knobs silver and built a 933 piece lego castle while we waited for it to dry.

And this is this is the finished table.

Next we were on a mission to find a cheap lamp to accent the new table. So of to Goodwill we go. I found an awesome stone lamp for $4.99 and brown shade for $2.00. I love good deals.

And this is what it all looks like put together.

I love how it turned out and I excited to start looking on craigslist again for my next project.

Here are a few pictures of the other projects that we did today.

                                         $1.99 at Goodwill.
Added some paint and Voila.
 Corkboard- $4.99 at Goodwill
Spray painted the trim and glued on some Yellow fabric I had, and added a giant pocket made from a pillow case that will match the guest room.
This was a table that I had in my master bathroom. I was tired of it being plain black so I painted it a rusty orange. Now I will have an accent color to use for the rest of my decorating.

I hope that you like all of my projects. I know that seeing other blogs inspires me and I hope to do the same. This is one of the blogs of a friend that is super crafty and I just love to see what she has done in her home.

I promise next time that I will share all about Asher's party and show how I made all of the decorations. But for now this is just a glimpse into my oh so lovely life.

Right of Passage

Five years ago today, I was doing everything I could to get my baby out. 19 hours of labor, a failed epidural and 6 and 1/2 minutes of the dr's working on my silent baby, I finally heard my baby cry. 8 lbs 15 0z 21 1/2 inches long. And already stubborn.

Of all the emotional times in a mothers life, I never imagined that my son turning five would be a hard one. I have been so emotional over him turning five, a whole handful as nick said tonight. I almost feel powerless, like it is out of my hands now, he is going to grow up and not be my baby anymore. Most people, mothers in general have probably already come to this conclusion but f0r me it is hitting home now. How did so much time pass already? Can it be possible that we are getting ready to sign him up for kindergarten? That is a whole another subject that makes me tear up when I think about it too much.

Asher has always been so independent. He said his first word at 7 months old and walked at 9 months old, I kinda got jipped out of the baby stage. Luckily for me, my friends let me snuggle with all of their tiny babies. Anyway, I have always felt like he is older than he is. He is already learning to read and write and spell and do math. It amazes me how smart he is. I am one proud mama. But I kinda want to freeze time. I am not ready for him to go off to school and become even more independent. I want to stay in our jammies all day and eat frozen waffles. I used to not understand when people would say "enjoy them while they are small" or "Don't blink, it will pass too quickly" but now I know exactly what they mean. It really seems like just yesterday he was teeny tiny and today he riding his bike down the street.

So this is it, our last summer before he is off to school. I want to embrace every sunny day, get in every snuggle time that he will allow. Pretty soon he will be too cool to cuddle with his mom :( I don't know what it will be like to have two kids in school. What will I do with all of my time? I know that once he starts he will love it and we will be super excited about all the new and exciting things. But right now it seems kind of daunting and a little surreal. I pray that he is stronger than me and doesn't cry when we drop him off at school that first day.

For now I get to keep busy with work and planning his birthday party. He is having a shark party with balloon animals and hopefully a lot of fun decorations. I will try and post pictures after the party.

I am not sure if I have the whole Blog thing down yet, but at least you know a little of what is going on in my oh so lovely life.
